The Vatican hopes this new website will strengthen the connection among the Vatican, Latin American bishops, religious congregations and movements within the Church.

The Pontifical Commission for Latin America is presided over by Cardinal Marc Ouellet and his secretary is Guzman Carriquiry.

One of his main responsibilities is to advise and assist the Catholic Church in Latin American countries.

The website includes messages from the Pope, news about how the Vatican is getting ready for  the Year of Faith and also audio messages from the commission's president, Cardinal Ouellet.

There's also a  photo gallery that includes pictures from the Pope's recent visit to Mexico and Cuba.
