Vatican newspaper emphasizes actions to save Rome’s Jews during Holocaust

L’Osservatore Romano published three articles in its January 29 edition recounting the actions of Rome’s priests and religious to save Jews during the Holocaust.

Jewish historian Anna Foa discussed how Father Giovanni Gregorini, a Roman parish priest, hid five Jewish families; journalist Paolo Fonti recounted how Sister Margherita Cipolloni hid Roman Jews in a hospital; and historian Giovanni Preziosi described how the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery hid children.
